Managing multiple domains from one dashboard

Cleanbox lets you manage multiple custom domains from a single dashboard. Whether you run several businesses, maintain separate domains for personal and work use, or manage domains for a team — everything is centralized in one place.

Adding multiple domains

Adding a second (or third, or tenth) domain works exactly the same as adding the first one. Navigate to Domains, click "Add domain", and follow the DNS verification process for each domain.

What you can do per domain

Each domain is fully independent. You can configure the following separately for each domain:

Aliases

Create aliases on any verified domain. Aliases across different domains share the same alias quota but are otherwise independent. For example, you might have shop@business-a.com and info@business-b.com forwarding to different mailboxes.

Relay protection

If your plan supports Relay, you can enable it per domain. This is particularly useful if you want Cleanbox to filter inbound email for one domain (e.g., your public-facing business domain) while using standard aliases for another (e.g., a personal domain). See the Relay documentation for details.

Filters

Filter rules apply across all your aliases by default, but you can create domain-specific filters using sender or recipient conditions. For example, create a filter that only applies to emails received on *@business-a.com aliases.

Dashboard overview

The Domains page shows all your connected domains at a glance:

  • Domain name and verification status
  • Number of aliases on the domain
  • Whether Relay is active
  • DNS record status (MX, TXT, SPF)

Click any domain to manage its aliases, view settings, or re-check DNS configuration.

Deactivating vs. deleting a domain

Deactivating

Temporarily pauses all email processing for the domain. Aliases become inactive and incoming messages are rejected. The domain and all its configuration remain in your account. Re-activate anytime to resume.

Use this when:

  • You're migrating DNS and need to pause temporarily
  • You want to stop a domain without losing your alias setup

Deleting

Permanently removes the domain and all associated aliases. This cannot be undone. Before deleting, make sure:

  • You don't need any aliases on this domain
  • No active services are using addresses on this domain
  • You've updated your MX records to point away from Cleanbox

Best practices for multiple domains

  • Use descriptive alias names — With multiple domains, labels and display names become even more important to stay organized
  • One mailbox per purpose — Route each domain's aliases to a different mailbox to keep business and personal email separate
  • Monitor per-domain — Use the dashboard analytics to track email volume and spam rates per domain
  • Keep DNS records clean — When removing a domain from Cleanbox, remember to update your DNS records at your registrar too
