Understanding your weekly email limit and usage

Weekly email limits

Every Cleanbox plan includes a weekly email limit — the maximum number of incoming emails that Cleanbox will process within a rolling 7-day window. This limit applies to all emails handled by your account, regardless of which alias or relay address receives them.

Limits by plan

PlanWeekly limit
Free50 emails
Personal ($5/mo)200 emails
Premium ($15/mo)1,000 emails
Advanced ($35/mo)5,000 emails
Enterprise ($100/mo)Unlimited

Monitoring your usage

You can keep track of your email usage at any time using the usage widget located at the bottom of the sidebar. The widget displays:

  • Your current count versus your plan's limit (e.g., “127 / 200”)
  • A progress bar showing how much of your weekly allowance has been used
  • The number of emails remaining before you reach your limit
  • A reset timer showing when the counter will reset, displayed in days and hours
  • An Upgrade button for quick access to higher plans

What happens when you reach your limit

If your account reaches its weekly email limit, new incoming emails are temporarily rejected with a “try again later” response. Here's what that means in practice:

  • The sending mail server will automatically retry delivery according to its own schedule
  • No email is lost — messages are queued on the sender's side until they can be delivered
  • Once your limit resets or you upgrade to a higher plan, delivery resumes normally
  • You do not need to take any manual action to recover missed emails

In most cases, senders will retry for several days before giving up, so upgrading your plan or waiting for the reset will resolve the situation without any lost messages.

Tips for managing your usage

  • Check the widget regularly — If you are on a smaller plan, keep an eye on your usage throughout the week so you are not caught off guard.
  • Upgrade when needed — If you consistently approach or hit your limit, consider moving to a higher plan for uninterrupted service.
  • All emails count — The limit includes every processed email across all your aliases and relay addresses. Quarantined and rejected emails also count toward the total.
  • Rolling window — The counter resets on a rolling 7-day basis, not on a fixed day of the week. This means usage from exactly seven days ago drops off continuously.

Upgrading your plan

You can upgrade at any time by clicking the Upgrade button in the usage widget or by visiting your account settings. Your new limit takes effect immediately, and any emails queued by sending servers will begin arriving as they retry delivery.
