The contacts page: searching, filtering, and organizing senders

The Contacts page is your directory of every sender who has ever emailed you through Cleanbox. It’s where you search, filter, sort, and manage all of your contacts in one place.

Accessing contacts

Click Contacts in the sidebar to open the page. You’ll see a complete list of every sender Cleanbox has seen — whether they sent you one email or a thousand.

The layout

The page uses a two-column design:

  • Main area — a table listing all of your contacts with key details at a glance.
  • Sidebar — your top 8 most active senders and your top 10 contact categories, giving you a quick snapshot of who emails you most and how your contacts are distributed.

Filtering contacts

There are several ways to narrow down the list and find exactly who you’re looking for.

State filter

At the top of the table you’ll find a row of state filters. Click one to show only contacts in that state:

  • All — every contact, regardless of state.
  • Unset — contacts you haven’t assigned a state to yet.
  • Whitelisted — contacts you’ve approved.
  • Prioritized — contacts marked as high priority.
  • Muted — contacts whose emails are silenced.
  • Blocked — contacts you’ve blocked entirely.

Each state has a colored indicator dot so you can tell them apart at a glance.

Category filter

Use the category dropdown to see only contacts that belong to a specific category — for example Shopping, Finance, Social, and so on. This is handy when you want to review all senders of a certain type.

Letter filter

Click any letter from A to Z (or 0–9) to jump straight to contacts whose name starts with that character.

Search

Type in the search box to find contacts by name or email address. Results update as you type, so you can locate a specific sender in seconds.

Sorting

You can sort the contact list by clicking the column headers:

  • Name — alphabetical order.
  • Email count — most or least active senders.
  • Last seen — most or least recently active.
  • State — grouped by contact state.

Click a column header once to sort ascending, and click it again to toggle to descending.

Contact columns

Each row in the table shows you the following at a glance:

  • The contact’s name and email address.
  • The number of emails you’ve received from this sender.
  • Last seen — when they last sent you an email.
  • Their current state, shown as a colored dot.

Pagination

Contacts are shown 50 per page. Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to move between pages.

Quick actions

You can take action directly from the contacts list:

  • Click a contact to open their detail page. There you’ll find their full message history, stats, and options to change their state or category.
  • Click the Cleanup button to bulk-remove inactive contacts. This is useful for tidying up senders who haven’t emailed you in a long time.

Tip: combine filters for precise results. For example, select the “Unset” state filter and the “Shopping” category to find shopping senders you haven’t organized yet.
