How to forward and re-deliver messages

Sometimes a message needs to go somewhere else — to a colleague, to a different inbox, or back to your mailbox after a delivery failure. Cleanbox gives you three ways to handle this.

Forwarding a message

Forwarding sends a copy of the message to any email address, even outside Cleanbox.

  1. Go to Messages and find the message
  2. Click the message to open the preview
  3. Click Forward message
  4. Enter the destination email address
  5. Click Forward

The forwarded message is sent as a new email from Cleanbox. The original sender, subject, and content are preserved. The recipient sees it as a forwarded message.

Re-delivering a message

Re-delivery sends the message to your linked mailbox again. This is useful when:

  • The original delivery failed (status: failed) due to a temporary mailbox issue
  • You released a quarantined message and want it delivered with filter rules applied
  • You accidentally deleted the message from your email client but it is still within Cleanbox's retention period
  1. Open the message preview
  2. Click Re-deliver message
  3. The message is delivered to the mailbox linked to the alias, with your filter rules applied (folder routing, flags, forwarding)

Re-delivery only works while the raw message is still stored (within your plan's retention period). After retention expires, the message metadata remains visible but the content cannot be re-delivered.

Releasing quarantined messages

Messages in quarantine can be released individually or in bulk:

  • Accept — Delivers the message to your mailbox with filter rules applied
  • Reject — Marks the message as blocked. You can still preview it and re-deliver later if you change your mind.

For bulk actions, select multiple messages using the checkboxes and use the Accept selected or Reject selected buttons.

Downloading a message

You can download the raw email as an EML file from the message preview. Click the download icon to save the full RFC822 message including headers and attachments. This is useful for archiving or sharing the complete email with support teams.
