Understanding alias limits and quotas
Each Cleanbox plan includes a specific number of aliases. This article explains how limits work, what happens when you reach them, and how to manage your quota.
Alias limits per plan
| Plan | Aliases |
|---|---|
| Free | 3 |
| Personal | 10 |
| Premium | 30 |
| Advanced | 100 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
The limit counts all aliases across all domains (including @cleanbox.me and custom domains). Both active and disabled aliases count toward the limit.
What happens at the limit
When you reach your alias limit:
- You cannot create new aliases until you delete existing ones or upgrade
- Existing aliases continue to work normally — no interruption to email delivery
- Disabled aliases still count toward the limit
Freeing up alias slots
If you need more aliases without upgrading:
- Review your alias list for addresses you no longer use
- Delete unused aliases to free up slots
- Consider disabling instead of deleting if you might need them later — but note that disabled aliases still count
Tip: Permanently delete aliases for services you no longer use. If an alias only receives spam, there is no reason to keep it.
Weekly email quota
Separate from the alias limit, each plan has a weekly email quota — the maximum number of emails processed across all aliases combined:
| Plan | Emails per week |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 |
| Personal | 200 |
| Premium | 1,000 |
| Advanced | 5,000 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
The quota resets every 7 days. Track your current usage on the dashboard. If exceeded, incoming emails are temporarily rejected until the quota resets — the sending server will usually retry automatically.
Downgrading and alias limits
If you downgrade to a plan with fewer aliases than you currently have, your existing aliases are not automatically deleted. However, you will need to reduce your count to the new limit before you can create new ones. Existing aliases continue to receive email normally.
