Creating a new team

What are teams?

In Cleanbox, everything belongs to a team — aliases, mailboxes, contacts, filters, shield rules, domains, and more. Teams are the core way to organize and separate your email setup.

When you first create an account, a default team is created for you automatically. But you can create additional teams to separate different use cases. For example, you might want one team for personal email and another for business, or separate teams for different projects or clients.

How to create a new team

  1. Click the team selector at the top of the sidebar. It shows your current team name and avatar.
  2. A dropdown appears listing all your teams.
  3. Click “Create team” at the bottom of the dropdown.
  4. Enter a name for your new team.
  5. The new team is created and you are switched to it automatically.

That's it — your new team is ready to use. You can start adding aliases, mailboxes, contacts, and filters right away.

What each team includes

Every team is fully independent. Each team has:

  • Its own set of aliases, mailboxes, contacts, filters, shield rules, domains, and relay addresses
  • Its own subscription and plan — each team needs its own plan
  • Its own team members with different roles and permissions
  • Its own weekly email limit based on its plan
  • Its own cloud storage quota

This means changing a filter or setting on one team does not affect any of your other teams. Everything stays completely isolated.

Switching between teams

You can switch between your teams at any time:

  1. Click the team selector at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Click the team you want to switch to.

The currently active team shows a checkmark next to its name in the dropdown. When you switch teams, the sidebar and all pages update to show that team's data.

Team ownership and members

You are automatically the Owner of any team you create. As the owner, you can invite other people to your team by going to the Team page in the sidebar.

You can also be a member of teams created by other people. Any team you belong to — whether you created it or were invited — shows up in the same team switcher.

Tips

  • Use separate teams to keep personal and business email completely isolated from each other.
  • Each team has independent settings, so you can configure each one differently without worrying about conflicts.
  • Remember that each team requires its own plan, so consider which teams you actively need.
