Setting up two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Cleanbox account. Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot log in without a time-based code from your authenticator app.

What you will need

Install an authenticator app on your phone. Any TOTP-compatible app works:

  • Google Authenticator (iOS / Android)
  • Authy (iOS / Android / Desktop)
  • 1Password (built-in authenticator)
  • Microsoft Authenticator (iOS / Android)

Enabling 2FA

  1. Log in to your Cleanbox account
  2. Navigate to Settings
  3. Click Enable two-factor authentication
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  5. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm
  6. 2FA is now active

Backup codes

After enabling 2FA, Cleanbox generates backup codes. These are one-time-use codes for when you lose access to your authenticator app.

Important: Save your backup codes in a secure location. Each code can only be used once.

Logging in with 2FA

  1. Enter your email and password
  2. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
  3. You are logged in

Using a backup code

  1. On the 2FA screen, click Use a backup code
  2. Enter one of your saved codes
  3. After logging in, reconfigure 2FA or generate fresh backup codes

Disabling 2FA

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Click Disable two-factor authentication
  3. Confirm your decision
